Terms of Service

Last updated: 30 July 2026

These terms govern your use of officialplayportal.com. By browsing the portal, subscribing to the Portal Dispatch newsletter or using the support chat, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site. Nothing in these terms removes or limits any statutory right you hold as a consumer in the United Kingdom, and where a term here conflicts with such a right, the right wins.

We have kept the language ordinary on purpose. A set of terms that only a lawyer can parse tells the reader nothing about how the site actually operates, which defeats the point of publishing them.

What this portal is

OFFICIALPLAYPORTAL is an independent editorial publication covering mobile arcade games. We play games, write reviews, assign scores, and link readers to the official store listing when a title earns their attention. Everything published here is opinion and description, informed by hands-on testing and offered in good faith.

What we are not, in case any of it is unclear: we are not the developer or publisher of any game reviewed here; we are not an agent of any developer, publisher or store operator; we do not host game files, patches or installers; we do not process payments; and we do not operate accounts, wallets, balances or any in-game economy. If you need something changed inside a game, we are the wrong address.

Editorial independence

Independence is the only asset a review portal has, so the rules around it are strict and we would rather state them than be asked.

How a score is set

The score on a review is set by the reviewer who played the game, based on their own sessions. It is not set by a commercial team, not adjusted after publication to please anyone, and not weighted by how popular the game is. Where a review is revised because the game itself changed — a patch that rebalances difficulty, a monetisation model that shifts — the revision is dated and the reason is stated in the text.

Payment, placement and review copies

We accept no payment in exchange for a score, a placement, a position in a list, or a favourable paragraph. Nobody can buy the front page of this portal. Where a developer supplies a review copy, a promotional code or an early build, that fact is disclosed in the review itself, because access is a benefit even when no money changes hands. If a commercial relationship of any kind ever affects how a page is presented, that page will say so plainly at the top, in the same size type as the rest of the article.

Corrections

We correct material factual errors when they are reported, promptly and without requiring anyone to argue their case. Corrections to substance are noted at the foot of the page with the date; typographical fixes are made silently. If you believe something here is wrong, email us with the page and the specific claim, and we will either correct it or explain why we think it stands.

Third-party links and downloads

Download buttons on this site point to the official Google Play listing for the game in question, and to nothing else. We do not publish APK mirrors, modified builds or affiliate redirect chains, and any link claiming to be an OFFICIALPLAYPORTAL download that does not lead to Google Play is not ours.

Once you follow that link you are on Google's platform, where Google's terms of service and privacy policy apply instead of ours. We do not control — and cannot help with — the availability of a game in your territory, its price, its in-app purchases, its age rating, its update schedule, its device compatibility requirements, or any refund. Those are matters between you, the developer and the store operator. Refund requests in particular must go to Google Play support; we have no ability to see, authorise or influence them.

Accuracy and currency of what we publish

A review describes a game as we found it, on the date stated, on the hardware stated. Mobile games are not static products: a patch can rebalance difficulty, retire a mode, introduce advertising, change the monetisation model or alter the control scheme weeks after we publish. We re-test significant titles when a major update lands, but we do not and cannot guarantee that every detail on every page remains current.

For that reason a review is commentary, not a specification. Do not treat a figure quoted here — an install size, a session length, a price, a number of modes — as a contractual description of the product. The store listing is the authoritative source for what you are installing today.

Acceptable use

The portal is free to read and we would like it to stay that way for everyone. Accordingly, you agree not to:

  • Interfere with the site, its hosting, or its availability to other readers, including by denial-of-service attempts, probing for vulnerabilities without permission, or attempting to gain unauthorised access to any system.
  • Scrape the portal at a volume or frequency that degrades service for others, or ignore reasonable rate limits.
  • Republish our reviews wholesale, in translation, or as training-ready bulk text, whether attributed or not.
  • Submit unlawful, defamatory, abusive, harassing or deliberately misleading content through the support chat or the newsletter form.
  • Use another person's email address to subscribe to the Portal Dispatch, or subscribe an address you are not entitled to use.
  • Misrepresent yourself as connected with OFFICIALPLAYPORTAL, or use our name or branding in a way that suggests endorsement we have not given.

Where use breaches these rules we may block access from the address or network responsible, remove a subscription, or report the matter to the relevant authority if it appears criminal. We will always prefer the narrowest measure that solves the problem.

Anything you send us

If you send us a correction, a tip, a complaint or a note through the chat or by email, you keep ownership of what you wrote, but you grant us permission to use it internally to act on it, and to quote a short extract if we publish a correction that arises from it. We will not publish your name or contact details alongside such a quotation unless you ask us to.

Please do not send confidential, commercially sensitive or personal information you would not want handled by a small editorial team. The support chat in particular is scripted and runs in your browser; it is not a secure channel, not a route for account recovery, refunds or legal notices, and it should never be relied on for anything time-critical. For anything the script cannot handle, email support@officialplayportal.com.

Intellectual property

The review text, the scoring, the page structure, the stylesheet, the site's own graphics and the OFFICIALPLAYPORTAL name are our work and remain our property, protected by copyright and, where applicable, trade mark law.

You may quote a short extract for the purposes of criticism, review, quotation or news reporting, as permitted by the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, provided you credit OFFICIALPLAYPORTAL and link to the page the extract came from. You may not reproduce a review in full, present our scores as your own editorial judgement, or use our text to populate another site.

Game titles, logos, screenshots, character art and audio referenced here belong to their respective owners and appear on this portal for the purpose of criticism and review under the same statutory provisions. If you own material that appears on this site and believe its use exceeds fair dealing, write to us with the specific page and asset and we will remove it or discuss the point — we will not stonewall a legitimate rights holder.

The Portal Dispatch newsletter

The Dispatch is free, sent only to addresses submitted through the form on this site, and used only to tell readers about new reviews, game modes and community records. Every dispatch carries a working unsubscribe link, and leaving takes one click with no confirmation loop and no retention offer. We do not guarantee delivery: mail providers filter aggressively and a message can be delayed or classified as spam by systems entirely outside our control.

Availability, maintenance and change

We aim to keep the portal online continuously, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Hosting incidents, network faults, certificate renewals and planned maintenance all happen, and we may add, alter, suspend or withdraw any part of the site — including individual pages — without notice. Where we retire a page that other people are likely to have linked to, we will normally redirect it rather than delete it.

Liability

The portal is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude the implied warranties and conditions that might otherwise apply to it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or wasted expenditure arising from use of the site or from reliance on anything published here — including a purchasing decision made after reading a review.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything in this section.

Who may use the portal

Reading the reviews requires nothing of you: no account, no age gate, no declaration. Subscribing to the Portal Dispatch is intended for adult readers, and by submitting the form you confirm that the address is yours to use and that you are old enough to consent to receiving email marketing in your jurisdiction. The games we cover are rated for a general audience, but a rating on a store listing is the store's judgement and not ours, and parents should treat it as the starting point of a decision rather than the end of one.

How to read these terms

Headings exist to help you navigate and carry no legal weight of their own. Where we say "including", it means "including without limitation" — a list of examples, not an exhaustive one. References to a statute include that statute as amended or replaced. The words "we", "us" and "our" mean OFFICIALPLAYPORTAL; "you" and "your" mean the person using the site. Where a term is defined once in plain language, that meaning applies throughout.

These terms are published in English. If we ever offer a translation, it is provided for convenience only and the English text governs in the event of a discrepancy.

General

  • Severability. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remainder continues in force and the offending provision is applied to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a term immediately, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • No third-party rights. These terms are between you and us; nobody else acquires rights under them.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if the portal changes hands, in which case the new operator inherits the same obligations to you.
  • Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy, are the whole of the agreement between us regarding the site.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the portal develops. The version published on this page at the time you visit is the version that applies to that visit, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. Where a change materially affects newsletter subscribers, we will say so in a dispatch rather than relying on you to re-read the page.

Governing law and complaints

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your own jurisdiction.

Before litigating anything, please write to support@officialplayportal.com. Most complaints about a review turn out to be factual disagreements that a correction settles in a day. For data protection matters specifically, see our Privacy Policy, which sets out your rights and the route to the Information Commissioner's Office.
